Kinesiotape
Kinestiotape, also known as KT Tape, is a therapeutic tape that’s applied strategically to the body to provide support, lessen pain, reduce swelling, and improve performance. Kinesiology tape is really stretchy. It’s a blend of cotton and nylon. It’s designed to mimic the skin’s elasticity so you can use your full range of motion. The tape’s medical-grade adhesive is also water-resistant and strong enough to stay on for two to five days, even while you work out or take showers. When the tape is applied to your body, it recoils slightly, gently lifting your skin. It is believed that this helps to create a microscopic space between your skin and the tissues underneath it.
benefits of kt tape
Helps with proprioception (your body’s ability to sense movement, action, and location in space)
What is KT Tape used for?
Treating injuries
Supporting weak areas of the body
Helps reduce pain and swelling, and is ideal when working in tandem with other treatments like manual therapy
The tape adds extra support to muscles or joints that are being stressed
KT Tape can re-train muscles that have lost function or have aberrant movement patterns, such as taping for poor posture of the neck and head
Athletes use KT Tape to help them perform at their best and protect against injury when competing

Is Kinesiotape right for you?
The theory is that when kinesiology tape is applied, it creates extra subcutaneous space (space under the skin), which changes the pressure gradient in that area. That change in pressure enhances the flow of lymphatic fluid, draining the swelling from the injured site.
Is Kinesiotape right for you?
For injured areas, KT tape may help improve circulation and reduce swelling in the area that’s been injured. Since it can improve blood flow and circulation of lymphatic fluids, it can help relieve swelling after an injury.
